SPECIAL Olympics Plymouth and District (SOPD)received a cheque for £2,500 which will help towards funding a trip to the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles next year.

Special Olympians – gold and bronze medallists Elizabeth Haywood and Steven Dodd will be representing Great Britain in 2015 - Steven in kayaking and Elizabeth in Badminton.

This fantastic amount of money was presented by Devonport Royal Dockyard Employees Trust’s Brian Legassick.

SOPD has received tremendous support over the years from the Trust, and this will help with the cost of sending our athletes to Los Angeles.

Fundraising events are ongoing and we will be running the coffee bar at Harewood House, Ridgeway in Plympton from Monday, June 16 until Friday, June 23, 10am to 3pm daily, serving tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches.

Please come along and support us!
